How Munich Re is exploring insurtech opportunities

I found a very interessting artikel: „Munich Re is investing in insurtech start-ups via its subsidiary Digital Partners as it seeks to develop new insurance products and ways to sell insurance to consumers or small businesses.

Munich Re has, for example, in November 2016 partnered with app-based insurance provider Wrisk, an Insurtech venture, to become its exclusive carrier for business underwritten in the UK, Europe and US.

It is also funding California-based insurtech start-up Trov which offers on-demand insurance, enabling users to buy insurance for specific products, for specific amounts of time through their smartphones. „Insury“: Ein neuer Award für die Branche

10.4.2017 – Die Insurance Factory kündigt die dritte Auflage des „Insurance Innovation Day“ an. Die erstmals zweitägige Veranstaltung im September 2017 präsentiert sich heuer betont international und wird auch den Rahmen für die Verleihung des neuen „Insury Startup Awards“ bilden. Die Ausschreibung wurde nun gestartet.

Das Beratungsunternehmen Insurance Factory veranstaltet nach der Premiere 2015 auch heuer wieder einen „Insurance Innovation Day“. Genau genommen sind es „Days“, denn in der dritten Auflage erstreckt sich das Programm über zwei Tage.

What can we learn from Silicon Valley in Europe?

The first fact is the concept of Silicon Valley can`t be copied. You can learn and adapt some methods, usefull process and some behavior, but the mindset of people is really different from Europe.

Of course, Europe understands, that we need more innovative and motivated people, who have crazy and sometimes risky ideas to save and change the world

But when we checked the last Unicorn report (“unicorns”—private companies valued at $1 billion or more) from Fortuna, we could see, that we aren‘t really on the right way, because we missed European companies.

But I think everybody unterstood, that we need some changes in our mindset as well.
